I've been trying to decide exactly what to post here, the reason for the delay. Nothing special has ever happened on Mother's Day that I can think of. Actually M.D. isn't always my favorite. I love being mom but I long for a mom at the same time. Around here, outside of the kids singing at church is treated like just another day. DH is either working or sleeping. Don't mean to be a downer here, I promise, just being honest.

My favorite Mother's Day memory was the first year I was able to actually celebrate for myslef this day after 7 years of praying for a child - our miracle Noah. That was the best moment, memory and still is the best gift ever!

My favorite Mother's Day gift came in 2004. In April of that year, I had my second son six weeks early (I was induced due to severe pre-eclampsia). We had to leave him in the hospital for a week (I stayed four days). When I brought him home, and he had no further problems, it was the BEST Mother's Day ever. :) I remember that God gave me a verse the night before we picked him up: "Those who go out with sorrow will come home with armloads of blessing" (from The Message). God is so good!

When I was a single mom and my son who was quite a bit younger at the time asked me after we got out of church if he could take me out to eat, I said "Oh you don't have to do that, it's ok" his reply was "but Mom I want to", so I told him that it meant so much to me that he had thought of this on his own so we headed out from church to eat at "The Cracker Barrell". It was a very special day. Ofcourse I picked up the check :) My son and I are very close and always have been, and hopefully always will.

growing up we started a family tradition. every mothers day we (the girls) sit around drinking chamagne (or sparking grape juice) eating chocolate covered strawberries (served to us by the men). and we howl at the moon. LOVE IT. Great way to let loose and enjoy being a woman.

My favorite Mother's Day memory is of a Mother's Day when I received a card from my grown step-daughter (who didn't usually acknowledge me much on Mother's Day, because of jealousy on her mother's part), and inside the card she had written a letter about how much she loved me, what a difference I had made in her life, and how she couldn't imagine her life without having me in it. I have never received even an expensive present that meant that much to me. That kind of happiness cannot be bought!

My favorite Mothers Day Memory was last year when my daughter was old enough to bring me a surprise breakfast in bed, and then she cleaned up the dishes after! They both made me sweet cards too!

Several years back things were tight so instead buying flowers, which they wanted to do really bad, they made me all kinds of beautiful paper flowers that I still have to this day. I love to take them out and admirer them, alone with all the other great Mother's Day cars and love notes of old!

The first year my boys made the handprint poem pages at Sunday school. 10 years later their little hands still hang on our wall :-)
