Week two test trying the Panasonic Inverter Technology microwave has been great. I was daring and cooked shrimp in it. I was craving shrimp cocktail and wanted to use up some frozen shrimp. I took eight ounces of medium shell-on frozen shrimp and placed them in a ceramic bowl with water. I covered the bowl with plastic wrap and microwaved the shrimp on high for five minutes stirring once at the halfway mark. Guess what? They were NOT rubbery!! I was thrilled. I drained the water after they were done, rinsed them under cold water, peeled and served them over ice with some cocktail sauce. My husband was skeptical and ended up LOVING them! I think having the shells on helped seal in the moisture and prevent the classic rubbery texture of overcooked shrimp. The kids tell me they like the microwave now although they too are peeved the dial does not let you add time during cooking. My oldest microwaved frozen blueberry muffins I made the other day. He heats them on high for 25 seconds and says the blueberries aren’t too hot which is a good thing in his book. My husband was impressed with the sensor reheat feature…he talked about it for days repeating he phrase “How does the microwave do that!” Essentially you can put anything in the microwave, use the sensor reheat button and it will automatically reheat to perfection…impressive. Oh, another cool thing we noticed…the fingerprint free stainless steel front is the real deal. I haven’t noticed any fingerprints on it and we’ve been using it faithfully for two weeks…love that! There is nothing worse than constantly cleaning little fingerprints off stainless steel….more next week….
