This is an older pic. Elle is now 7 months in gestation. I saw my daughter a couple of weeks ago and was stunned. Watching your oldest child grow with child is awe inspiring, or at least it is for me.
We were at a family event. It was rainy outside and everyone had went for a walk. I had worn high heels, so walking through the woods was out of the picture for this girl, so I went upstairs to read.
Leslie slipped in and lay beside me. She took my hand and placed it on her stomach. Elle was sleeping, so I didn't feel her move. As we lay across the bed, I positioned my head close to my daughter's belly.
"Do you think you can hear her?" Leslie asked.
I placed my ear close and suddenly Elle kicked me in my ear.
Maybe this sounds like old hat to women who have 10 grandchildren, or maybe it's always a miracle. I hope so. But the connection with my daughter, and with my granddaughter seemed priceless to me. It's a moment I filed away in my memory, one that will always be priceless.
I know that Momlogic is filled with moms in all stages, from pregnant mommas to mothers of preschoolers to moms of tweens and teens, and beyond.
Parenting doesn't stop because they grow. It only changes. And this continues to be a beautiful stage of motherhood for me.
I can't wait to show you pictures of Elle when she arrives in July.
