What a thing to say!. I know someone who's zest for life and ability to still appreciate the journey makes them a joy to be around. Have you ever met someone who makes you feel so alive in their presence that you just want to touch them in the hope that just a little of whatever they have rubs off?
Well this is one of those people, people honestly just seem drawn to them, imagine my surprise when the conversation turned to "I know the secret, and the secret is that your not going to make it, I'm not going to make it and neither is anyone else" My immediate reaction was what in the heck are you talking about, that's a sucky thing to say! Now I want to know what your immediate reaction is to that statement and why, then tonight I'll finish writing the rest of the conversation.

Sounds like a very negetive attitude to me and my immediate reaction was "oh shush up"
So they mean if you EXPECT nothing and you GET nothing, then you'll be fine?
Odd way of thinking. Depressing really

I EXPECT all great thingsand will never change my attitude about that.and thats what I teach my kids too!

Actually this wasn't said to or about me, it was just a conversation that we had about a comment that was made and it totally got me worked up at just the thought of someone saying that. trust me, I put it on here because I love the interaction on this site and I wanted to get people involved in a conversation and see what their reaction would be!! Thank you for commenting, I hope more people do:) You rock! Have a fabulous weekend!

First of all, any a**hole can be a "life coach". As a trained psychotherapist, if I said something like that to a client, I should pair it with a bottle of pills or a gun to make it easier. Your friend needs to read Wayne Dyers "Power of Intention". Regardless of your faith, intention, like prayer, is awesome. If you say you won't make it, then you won't. I intend that you get better friends ;).

I think that the comment originated from a "life coach" that their other half goes to. With the idea that if you realize that you will not make it, then you won;t be heartbroken when it doesn't happen. You may be brokenhearted when you succumb to this thought but if you then succeed you'll be happy and if you don;t well you didn;t really expect to anyway did you. It's suppose to give you a kick in the pants moment to do it. I think the "life coach" if that's where it came from seriously needs to crawl back under whatever rock he came out of, because I personally think that, that one comment can set you up for failure. I think that if you repeated that comment to someone it would not only put a question of doubt in their mind but make them also rethink the amazing you that the world is so drawn to.
